About
Our first coffee from Bolivia is here! This coffee is fun to drink. It's citrusy, yet it doesn't have the acidic zest that normally accompanies such notes. Full bodied and an oolong tea like texture make for a unique and enjoyable cup! We were only able to get our hands on a small amount of this coffee so we expect it to be gone in a flash!

More About The Coffee
Together, Carmelo Yujra and his wife, Deysi, manage their 7-hectare farm, Senda Salvaje, nestled in the Caranavi district of Nor Yungas.  Senda Salvaje translates to ‘wild road’, as it’s said that many wild animals such as jaguars roam around the farm.  Carmelo, who for over 10 years worked as a quality manager at the Cup of Excellence competition, and after tasting the quality of the coffees produced here, purchased this land from an older lady who was too old to run her farm.

Carmelo acts as a figurehead for the community of producers here, where farm owners will work together, support each other, and exchange ideas.  This is where the processing of this particular lot was developed, modeled after the unique process employed in Kenya.

After picking the cherry and depulping, this lot is moved to a fermentation tank for 20 hours for the initial fermentation, which is then followed by a 48-hour soaking period utilizing multiple water changes a day. This process, enhances the coffee’s cleanliness while also reducing water usage compared to traditional washing methods.
